Background of J.D. Power Japan
1968
J.D. Power III founded J.D. Power abd Associates in California, U.S.A. and shortly thereafter conducted a series of marketing research projects focused on the automotive industry. The firm was incorporated in 1969.
1981
J.D. Power conducted its first syndicated study in the automotive industry, the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Study. Since then, the firm has expanded its services to other industries including information technologies, office automation equipment, telecommunications, airlines, hotels, home building, finance and utilities. J.D. Power also expanded its offices and services to serve clients on a global basis including Canada, Asia, Europe and Australia.
1990
October: R&D/J.D. Power, Inc. was established in Tokyo to undertake marketing research projects in Japan.
1997
The firm launched marketing research projects in other Asian countries. December: Changed the company name to J.D. Power Asia Pacific, Inc.
1999
March: An office in Singapore was opened to broaden J.D. Power Asia Pacific's activities in Asia.
2000
December: J.D. Power Asia Pacific became wholly owned by J.D. Power and Associates.
2005
January: An office in Shanghai was opened.
April: The McGraw-Hill Companies acquired J.D. Power.
2006
J.D. Power acquires Automotive Resources Asia, which specializes in Asia's vehicle markets to continue to expand presences in Asia.
2016
XIO Group, a global alternative investments firm headquartered in London, completes the acquisition of J.D. Power.
2018
Dave Habiger is named the new President and CEO of J.D. Power; Company celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
